Death Guard - Books of Chaos

Death Guard is the legion of Grandfather Nurgle and the baddest mofo's in the Galaxy. Championed by Typhus the traveler, host of the destroyer hive, and Harold of Nurgle.

My army stood the test of time in many battles. Some wins and some losses but always killing and spreading decay in the name of Nurgle.

Old school 40K'ers will appreciate the theme in my Death Guard Army. Difficult to see in the photo. Each unit has 7 members except the heavy choice. There are 7 units but shown in the photo are a few options depending on the battle. Less noticeable are no heavy weapons and few other traits holding true to the Book of Nurgle and the Death Guard way.

Interesting Characters:

Virus - A long impressive career and recently promoted to Chaos Lord. Virus fought and killed in many battles over the years. He was promoted to aspiring champion in a glorious battle against the Necrons. Virus took the plague sword from the hand of his units former aspiring champion symbolizing his ascension. Virus is most remember for his crazed heroics in a battle against the Nids. Virus, Fungi and Shroomn were the only Death Guard survivors against a fully tweaked Nids hardboys army list. His unit deployed from a Rhino in the center of the Nids army and managed to kill over a third of the bugs which include 3 Tyrant Guards and a wound on the Tyrant. Sadly turn six ended and the bugs mysteriously moved to new prey and the three remaining Death Guard managed to escape certain death.

Fungi - Known for his tall, thin body and phosphorescent fungus growing in the cracks of his armor. Fungi specialized with the Flamer. Expertise is exiting a rhino and dousing enemy in scorching flames. Fungi's most glorious moment was against the Nids. Stepping out of a Rhino roasting bugs and out number 50 to 1. Fungi's bellowing roar could be heard above the gears of battle. Fungi claims when turn 6 ended the Hive Mind called the bugs in fear of his roar.

Shroomn - Chaos sorcerer which occasionally makes appearances when not lost in the mysteries of sorcery. Shroomn's goals are a dangerous mystery to everyone. Shroomn has the talent to cause glancing hits on vehicles and turning enemies into spawn. Sometimes Shroomn will ride in the rhino with Virus and Fungi. A long time ago during a battle with the Nids Shroomn had a brief contact with the Hive Mind. A tap into messages being sent to and from the bugs. The message was difficult to understand. Similar to the mind of an insect. Shroomn's interpretation was sent in a report to Typhus himself and went something like this. "Lord Typhus...... blah blah..... my best insight suggest the message from the Hive Mind was to recall the Tyranid and is literally interpreted as: 'The food is rotten, contaminated. The preys .... immune systems.. ... contaminate the brood."

Flea - Dreadnought that once caused fear in the Grey Knights. GW nerfed the mutated hull. Now he rages causing fear in the Death Guard. His stories about the many battles with the Grey Knights are talked about by the new recruits like impossible tales of the gods.

The Death Guard in all its rotten glory. Difficult to take photos of entire armies. Banners in each unit are inspired by the 4 horsemen from the book of Revelations. My army has several HQ choices. Many many more not shown in this photo.
