Liam Spirit Wolf starred blankly into the small pool of water at the bottom of a small brook. Regardless of his facial express much was going on in his mind. Kael Storm Eye assured Liam that this was the precise location of the three Imperial Relics dropped to the planet during an attack months before. This was suppose to be a simple snatch and grab operation. Once they had landed they had discovered they weren't the only ones after the relics...
Steve will have to post up his list as a comment so you can get the full picture but here's my list.
Wolf Lord on a ThunderWolf Mount
Rune Priest
5 Wolf Guard
5 Wolf Scouts
4 squads of Grey Hunters with Rhinos
5 Fenrisians Wolves
3 squads of Long Fangs with Razorbacks
Mission: Annihilation (Kill Points)
Deployment: Spearhead
TURN 1:
First Turn saw the Tau reposition their forces after they set up as the wolves didn't show up on the board to face all those nasty weapons on the first turn.
TURN 2:
Second turn the Tau reposition a bit more awaiting the Wolves to show up and try and claim the the three relics.
Second turn saw the Wolf Lord, three of the Grey Hunters, and 3 squads of Long Fangs enter in the deployment zone. After the Long Fangs ran into position the Razorbacks open fired on some suits and a piranha. The only effect was knocking of the piranha melta weapon. The rhinos move up and pop smoke to help with turn 3 shooting.
TURN 3:
The Tau turn was a brilliant light show as a storm bolter was blown from a rhino and a second rhino was crew stunned.
The Rune Priest, Scouts, Wolf Guard Razorback, Fenrisian Wolves, and fourth Grey Hunters Pack finally arrive on the table. The Rune Priests starts the show with a psychic power, Storm Caller, to protect the Razorbacks. The Scouts start the flanking show with two meltaguns, within 6", into the rear of a Hammerhead to see it fall from the sky with a might explosion and take one of the scouts with it. The Razorbacks manage to drop a second Hammerhead and the Long Fangs stun a pirhna.
TURN 4:
The Tau retaliate by shooting the Wolf Scouts down to just the Wolf Guard. The suits open fire and pop a rhino and stun a second. A Hammerhead and Pirhna manage to stun and blow the lascannon off of a razorback. Some Crisis suits manage to kill the closest squad of Long Fang's squad leader.
After a little bit of rhino moving, the Rune Priest cast Storm Caller again to grant all the vehicles some cover saves. The Wolf Lord begins to move around the right flank and position for a charge on a piranha. The Razorbacks manage to pop the devilfish and stone the hammerhead and kill two crisis suits. The Grey Hunters from the exploded rhino try to take cover from the inevitable return volley.
TURN 5:
The Tau are making their move. This could be the last turn and the Tau need to get some kill points here because they are behind. The piranha jumps over the immobilized HammerHead and begins to punish the Long Fangs till there is not a single one standing. The Hammerhead manages to pop the Rune Priests rhino causing him and his squad to disembark and take a pinning test, they passed. The Fire Warriros from the popped Devilfish try to get away from the approaching Grey Hunters that were popped from their rhino the turn before. It just wasn't far enough it would seem. The Broadsides manage to kill the Scout Wolf Guard and move in to engage some Razorbacks.
The wolves begin to position for assaults. With the Tau approaching for the Hail Mary, it was time to circle them up and show them how packs fight. The Razorbacks manage to finish off the Crisis Suits along with the HQ and pop the final Hammerhead. The Long Fangs managed to immobilize the piranha and kill three Broadsides behind the center barrier. The Wolf Lord manages to wreck the second piranha and start advancing to the rear squad of Broadsides. The Rune Priest and his squad head towards the immobilized Piranha and set up for some armor busting. They managed to stun it and their close combat attacks whiffed or didn't manage to penetrate. The Grey Hunters manage to eat the Fire Warriors and consolidate towards the large squad of Kroot.
TURN 6:
The Tau were crippled beyond redemption at this point. This turn flew by as the Kroot and Grey Hunters collided. It saw several Kroot go down and none of the Grey Hunters, to Steve's dismay!
The Rune Priest and squad finally trash the second Piranha and the Wolf Lord killed the three Broadsides.
Kill Point Totals:
Tau = 6
Space Wolves = 9
All and all not a bad game. It was so intense I forgot several pictures as you can see from what I have loaded up! Steve has come a long way since our first fight at his house and his models are starting to look fantastic! I really need to get on mine as his army is almost finished and I've been playing for 14 years!

Congratulations Aaron!
I don't have all the details but Steve said you received a new bundle of joy last week. I wanted to congratulate you! So with that said tomorrow I'll post up the battle report from this weekend, Space Wolves vs. the Tau, in your honor.

Top Deck Games - Game Night 09/01/2010
Well I went up to the LGS tonight, Top Deck Games, and tried to get in a game of 40K. Due to bad timing I wasn't able to grab an opponent in time so I played my stepson, Dalon(13), and taught him a few things. So not a battle report, as it was a training mission, but a few pics of our models out in play. I also grabbed a few shots of the other armies out at the shop per Xiophen's request! So here they are!
This first pic is of my deployment zone. As you can see I have 3 units of Long Fangs in the rear with good lanes of fire! You can't see it but behind that ruin is my Thunderwolf Lord ready to pounce on anything that enters the backfield!
This second picture is also of my deployment zone with a peek into Dalon's deployment zone. As you can see I couldn't wait for him to come to me so I push my mech line up WAY further than I would for a seasoned opponent! Sorry bud no insult intended. The unit this side of the tower on foot was shot out of their rhino that was providing cover for the advancing razorbacks to the right. It did it's job well as those two razorbacks held supporting fire the whole game!
This third pic was a closer shot detailing the left side of the table. As you can see I have another two razorbacks being screened, currently, by one rhino who tied up two lone wolves and a Grey Hunter squad while my Thunderwolf Lord came in to mop them all up! That green circle over to the right by the tower was a rhino who made up the two tank screen that didn't quite make it. They found the second lone wolf to play with though and managed to put one wound on him!
Here is a good shot of Dalon's deployment zone. As you can see here I managed to pop two rhinos and two land speeders. Believe it or not these were done on first turn! He failed to move those long fangs in that swamp looking terrain all game. As a matter of fact I forgot to mention it to him. I guess there's one more lesson for him to learn. They really didn't shoot all game which is a waste. One turn of movement and he could have been popping razorbacks! On the piece of terrain in the bottom right corner is an immobilized landspeeder that sat there the whole game after deepstriking in turn two. That's right folks, the tinfoil skimmer just sat and shot it's multimelta for 3 more turns until he finally knocked off the multimelta and heavy flamer!
This shot is just a birds eye view of Dalon's deployment zone. You can see his Long Fangs in good position on the top floor of the ruin in his backfield. Sad to say they really didn't do much all game as I made good use of cover and smoke launchers!
This is a pic of Bill moving his beautifully painted Dark Angels army. He is a regular at the shop and attends many of the tournaments in this part of the states! His opponent is another regular at the shop, Dave. Dave fields the stinky cheese Eldar army. Enjoy!
Another quick pic of the Eldar battle line.
These cool cats here I have no idea who they are. I've seen them once or twice when I've stopped in to say hello. Perhaps one of these will be my next opponent? Anyhow it is the Orks against the Black Templars teamed up with Nids!?!?
A quick and blurry pic of a landraider popping a wheelie. Don't try this at home!
