My first game using my Chaos and my first loss. What went wrong? What happened? Shokk attack happened. My opponent, Andrew, has been at this for over 20 years, so I suppose I shouldn’t feel too upset over this major loss.

His list (approx.):
Warboss 9 Killa Cans w/ Rockitt Launchas 4 Squads of Boyz w/ lots of Rockitts, 1 Wagon Some asshole with a Shokk Attack gun
The Game in Brief: I setup for a Land Raider rush. Daemon Prince, Kharn and zerks, and 2 rhinos (1 zerk, 1 CSM) are right behind. 1 CSM guards objective. Andrew went first.
Turn 1: Shokk destroys Land Raider first shot of the game. Kharn takes 1 wound, 2 zerks dead. Rokkitts blow up 2 rhinos and destroy weapon on other. 2 more zerks die. More rokkitt fire kills 4 CSM on objective. This is all through 4+ cover saves (except the Land Raider.)
I run everything forward, Defiler kills 4-5 boyz, CSM kilsl 2.
Turn 2: Shokk attack gun kills Defiler. Rokkitts force morale on CSM guarding objective. They flee 12” (rolled 11) to the edge of the table. Rokkitts kill stuff. Boyz assault Daemon Prince. Daemon Prince misses every attack and fails every save. Dies. Rhino immobilized.
Kharns squad pistols and assaults Warboss and boyz. Kharn kills Warboss and only 1 Zerker. Zerks kill 5 Orks. All Zerks die. Obliterators plasma cannons scatter 11” and 12” respectively. Hit nothing.
Turn 3: Concentrated Kan and Boyz kill 6 CSM, rolls a 12 for morale and flee. Other zerker squad is wiped out by 15 Slugga shots (seriously! All but 5 hit and wounded!)
Turn 4: Since I all I had left on the board was Kharn and 2 oblits, we just rolled out Kharn’s assault and assumed the oblits would die.
Kharn killed 3 Boyz and took his final 2 wounds.
-- Ouch. I can’t imagine his luck being any better or mine being more terrible. The game was pretty much decided from the first shooting phase. I am in no way claiming I would have won, but he sure expedited my defeat.
Yet another loss against Orks (different player), although I thoroughly expected it. I decided to test Khorne's mettle in close combat, so I ran an all CC army.
So I wasn't intending on winning in the first place, but I wanted to test: How effective is the DP in combat? (Killed Warboss, still can't handle the horde. I think he should counter-attack instead of leading assault? Or primarily an elite killer?) How many Zerks I need to take out a tar pit. (Too many - even with 35+ attacks with Furious Charge against 'ard Boyz didn't work spectacularly. Still would take a lot to get through WS3-S3-T3.) Are Zerks effective against elite units? (No. Heavily equipped Nobz slaughtered 2 squads.) I always hated Chaos Dreadnoughts. Do I still hate Chaos Dreadnoughts? (Yes. Missed 2 turns being an idiot. But the right tool for clearing those Nobz.) Is the Defiler any good in CC? (Immobolized 2nd turn.)
I also learned: Dread vs. Kans can lock each other up for a really long time. Terminators are about what I expected in CC. Survivability, yes. But low kill power. They cleared some softened up 'ard Boyz. Lost 2 from shooting and CC. Victory in numbers isn't guarenteed. I got my DP, Kharn and 7 Zerks into a fight with 'ard Boyz, and still lost DP and lost combat with Zerks. 16 Zerks cleared more 'ard Boyz, but got ground down on Nobz squad. And then my dreadnought got into combat and wiped them out, so I was using the wrong tool for the job. I suppose the biggest problem was not knowing the Orks very well.
